Stefano Domenicali Quits Scuderia Ferrari

Today, Stefano Domenicali resigned from his position as team principal of Scuderia Ferrari. Ferrari has been struggling this season to continue to be a competitive team, a position many other previously successful teams have been in due to the rule changes for the 2014 season. Struggling along with Ferrari is Infinity Red Bull Racing, the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Drivers and Constructors Champions.

Stefano Domenicali resigned after a miserable start to the 2014 season, the worst since 2010 in terms of points amassed, returning from one of Ferrari's less successful seasons that was 2013. The team has only scored 33 points in the first three races, with both drivers, who are both former World Champions, struggling to finish in the top 10. Stefano Domenicali feels responsible for the poor results that Ferrari has achieved and says that "It is time for a significant change. As the boss, I take responsibility, as I have always done, for our current situation. This decision has been taken with the aim of doing something to shake things up and for the good of this group of people that I feel very close to." Ferrari will have their jobs cut out for them as this adds a new twist to their already desolate season.

Marco Mattiacci, the current President and CEO of Ferrari North America, will replace Domenicali, effective immediately, according to Luca Di Montezemolo, the chairman of Ferrari.
